Workshop on Wildland Fire Modeling
and Prediction in the Southeast United States

To be held on the campus of the Florida State University on March 12-14 2003.

 

WHERE AND HOW

The workshop sessions will be held at CSIT, the School of Computatutional Science and Information Technology, in room 499 of the Dirac Science Library, on the FSU campus, in Tallahassee, Florida. To find the site, you may refer to the FSU Campus Map.

 

The workshop program will start at 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday 12 March, and will conclude at 12:00 p.m. on Friday 14 March. There will be a continental breakfast served each morning and lunch will be provided on Wednesday and Thursday.

 

There will be a cocktail reception from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday March 11 at the Ramada Hotel, for participants to register and to socialize. There will be a dinner on Thursday March 14, location to be determined.

 

AGENDA

Here is a agenda for the Workshop, which includes links to abstracts and presentation materials of the invited talks. Each talk will be of 30 minutes duration, of which approximately 10 minutes will be reserved for discussion. The agenda will be finalized by mid-February.

 

ABSTRACTS

We are planning to produce a volume of abstracts of the invited talks, to be distributed to all Workshop attendees. Invited speakers should submit an abstract of no more than one page by January 30, 2003 to Dr. Phil Cunningham (phil@csit.fsu.edu). We also plan to make the presentation materials (i.e., PowerPoint files) for each talk available on this website after the Workshop; speakers are requested to provide these materials either before or soon after the Workshop.

 

TRAVEL PLANS

Participants should plan to fly into the Tallahassee Regional Airport. A block of rooms have been reserved for workshop attendees at a rate of $89 per night. Reservations must be made no later than February 24, 2003. Please contact the hotel directly to make your reservation:

Limited funds are available to support travel/hotel expenses for Workshop attendees. Please contact Dr. Phil Cunningham (phil@csit.fsu.edu) to request support. Decisions will be made based on the number of requests and the total amount of funds available.
